What is a Quick Release Pin:
The pin is a small micro size stainless steel tube in which inside there are 2 micro springs on both ends push out 2 small pylons on both sides, to keep the bands secure without detaching from the watch.
So when you apply a little pressure on the lever with the small ball, you unlock the mechanism and detach the bands.

Also these bands are used like we mentioned above to quickly exchange the bands.
